Christmas red tape.

Christmas should be about family and joy - not worrying whether you can afford the basics.

But Brexit red tape keeps piling costs onto families and small businesses across the United Kingdom.

Chocolate up 51%. Food and drink up 38%. Even wrapping paper costs more.

Meanwhile, our food and drink businesses are drowning in £23m of import checks and £60m in export certificates - bureaucracy that didn't exist before the Conservatives' botched Brexit deal.

Liberal Democrats have been clear: we need a new UK-EU customs union to cut this red tape, bring prices down, and give our businesses a fighting chance.

This Christmas, families across the UK deserve better than empty shelves and rising costs. They deserve a government that puts prosperity ahead of ideology.
