This is a moment for us to truly reflect on the kind of world we are building for the next generation. πŸŒπŸ’”

After the tragic murder of Sarah Everard, a conversation happened in households across the country, that many of us will never forget. It was a conversation born out of fear, grief, and a desperate need for change.
"After the murder of Sarah Everard, I had a conversation with my children that I will never forget. Education on respect and safety must be about the human beings we are raising - not just girls or boys." Wendy Chamberlain MP

For too long, the burden of safety has been placed on women and girls, telling them how to dress, where to walk, and how to protect themselves. But true change only happens when we address the root of the problem.
It is encouraging to see the government and the Labour Party moving forward with plans to tackle misogyny in schools by specifically educating boys. By teaching young men about healthy relationships, consent, and respect from an early age, we can begin to dismantle the toxic cultures that lead to violence.

However, we need to go further. The Liberal Democrats are committed to a comprehensive approach to making our streets and homes safe for everyone. Our policies focus on:

✅ Combatting Violence Against Women and Girls: We are calling for the immediate implementation of a strategy that treats violence against women and girls as a national threat.
✅ Police Reform: Making sure our police forces are properly trained to handle cases of domestic abuse and sexual violence with the seriousness they deserve.
✅ Relationship and Sex Education (RSE): Strengthening the curriculum to ensure every child learns about boundaries, respect, and equality.

Safety shouldn't be a "women's issue." It’s a human issue. It’s about the boys we are raising to be respectful men and the girls we are raising to live without fear. πŸ•Š️

Let’s keep pushing for a society where "getting home safe" isn't a matter of luck, but a fundamental right.
