Lib Dems Slam Farage and Badenoch for "Cheerleading" as Trumpflation Hits UK.

The Liberal Democrats have launched a scathing attack on Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage for "cheering on Trumpflation," as new figures reveal a sharp spike in the cost of living.
Official data from the ONS confirms that UK inflation jumped to 3.3% in March, up from 3% in February. The rise is being driven by surging energy and fuel costs following Donald Trump’s military escalation in Iran, which has caused chaos in global oil markets and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Liberal Democrats have warned that the UK is now in the grip of "Trumpflation", a phenomenon where the US President's destabilising foreign policy and trade threats directly hike prices for British families.

"Inexcusable Cheerleading"
Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson and Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper MP branded the support for Trump from prominent right-wing figures as a betrayal of struggling households.

"People across our country have been struggling for years with a devastating cost-of-living crisis, and Donald Trump’s idiotic war in Iran has added to it," "The cost of fuel is soaring, mortgage rates are rising, and fixed energy deals are already going up by hundreds of pounds. But what is utterly inexcusable is that there are politicians in this country, Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch, who are happy to cheerlead Donald Trump as he hikes people’s bills."  Daisy Cooper MP

Lib Dem MP Charlie Maynard echoed these concerns, noting the direct impact on everyday essentials:
"Trump’s Iran war, which Reform and the Tories cheered on, is pushing up prices for everyone in shops and at the pump. We need fuel duty, bus, and train fares cut now. The government needs to act."

Families Reaching Breaking Point
New polling commissioned by the Liberal Democrats highlights the desperate measures Brits are taking to cope with "Trumpflation":
30% of regular drivers have cut back on other essential spending to afford fuel.
49% are driving less frequently due to soaring costs.
10% have resorted to stockpiling fuel in anticipation of further price hikes.

With petrol rising by 8p a litre and diesel by 17p in just one month, the party warned that the "economic aftershock" is only beginning, with domestic energy bills set for further hikes in July and October.
The Lib Dem Emergency Plan
The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Labour Government to immediately implement an emergency transport package to "Keep Britain Moving."

"We are calling for emergency cuts to fuel duty, bus fares and rail fares to support families in the UK whose bills have skyrocketed."  Olly Glover MP

The proposed plan includes:
A 10p cut to Fuel Duty: Bringing down prices at the pump by 12p per litre.
£1 Bus Fares: Slashing the current £3 cap to just £1 per journey.
10% Rail Fare Cut: Providing immediate relief for commuters.
EV Support: Cutting VAT on public electric vehicle charging and reviewing unfair network costs.

The party proposes that the £2 billion cost of this three-month package be funded by the "windfall" tax revenues the Treasury is currently raking in from higher fuel prices.
"The Chancellor cannot just stand back and let Trump's actions bring the economy to a standstill," "We need action, that’s what the Liberal Democrats are focused on." Susan Murray MP
