Healey plans will "barely shift the dial" until Europe trade barriers dropped
Liberal Democrat Treasury Spokesperson Daisy Cooper MP has slammed Chancellor John Healey’s recent economic growth strategy, warning that his proposals will "barely shift the dial" while Downing Street continues to enforce rigid Brexit red lines.
Responding to the Chancellor’s address on investment and innovation, Cooper argued that the government is failing to address the fundamental trade barriers hindering British exporters.
"The Chancellor can’t seriously talk about 'turbocharging innovation' or helping British manufacturers sell abroad whilst ignoring the Brexit trade barriers choking our exporters,"

Daisy Cooper MP further criticised both the current administration and its predecessors for maintaining policies that bind domestic enterprises in administrative bottlenecks, noting that large sectors of the economy suffered heavily under the previous Conservative government.
"Huge swathes of our economy were left to rot by an incompetent Conservative Party, but now Labour are following the path of stagnant growth with their commitment to Brexit red lines that will see British businesses continue to be wrapped up in red tape as they have been since the damaging Brexit deal," Daisy Cooper MP said.
Addressing the Treasury’s localised funding announcements, including a £150 million allocation distributed across the North of England, the Liberal Democrat deputy leader dismissed the fiscal scale of the measures as insufficient for nationwide economic transformation.
"Re-announcing £150 million across the entire North of England will barely shift the dial on growth," "Liberal Democrats are demanding that Labour move faster to strike a Growth and Defence Deal that will make the UK stronger and more prosperous." Daisy Cooper MP
